Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland Announces Review of Editorial Policy and Investment Thresholds

Posted: 1st July 2022

Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland (Screen Ireland), the national agency for the Irish screen industry, has completed a review of editorial policy and funding principles, which will be announced in September along with a number of new initiatives for the industry.

The agency has also adjusted the investment thresholds available across production funding to support creative excellence and strong production values within a highly competitive international marketplace. The new investment thresholds also come at a time where rising production costs are being experienced around the globe.

As part of the agency’s strategic plan ‘Building for a Creative Future 2024’ announced last year, Screen Ireland continues to develop a global reputation for Irish creative storytelling excellence. Taking into account the challenging international marketplace, Screen Ireland’s objective is to ensure that there is a consistent pipeline of Irish production featuring Irish talent and Irish stories coming through across all categories of funding.

Ensuring Irish talent and Irish storytelling on screen are supported to drive creative excellence at the heart of the industry is a key priority. This adjustment comes after a thorough editorial review.

An industry event will be held in September 2022 which will present new and updated funding streams across production and development and new guiding principles across all areas of funding. More details will be announced shortly.

All new investment thresholds will take effect as of Friday, July 1st.
