Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland Funding Update: June 2026
Posted: 11th June 2026
In this Screen Ireland June 2026 update, we share key news for Irish industry professionals related to Screen Ireland funding, application processes and other information from the agency.
An Overview on Production and Development Activity
Production: The first quarter of this year has started with very high levels of production activity, with 19 Screen Ireland-supported projects going into production since the start of 2026. This follows on from a record-breaking year of screen production spend in 2025, and reflects the high levels of investment in development and production in recent years.
Development: There are currently more than 250 projects on the development slate with Screen Ireland, across feature film, TV drama, animation and documentary. The number of development applications have also grown substantially.
New Pre-Application Meetings for Irish Feature Film Production Funding
As outlined in Screen Ireland’s February industry engagement session, the agency continues to streamline and improve the application process and the development and production pipeline.
In advance of the July 2026 round of Production Funding, Screen Ireland will offer optional pre-application meetings for Irish Feature Film Production funding applicants.
Producer applicants are being offered the opportunity to discuss their project with a member of the Production team before applying. The meeting may provide feedback as to whether your project may be at the right stage for production funding - or whether further application preparation might be beneficial. These meetings are intended, in this round, for Fiction: Irish Production funding applicants only, and will be open to the producer applicant on the project.
For the upcoming round of funding, pre-application meetings will take place on the 23rd and 25th of June, and will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis.
Producers can schedule a meeting on Screen Ireland’s Online Application Portal – by applying for ‘Production Pre-Application Meetings’ under the ‘Production’ category in ‘Funding Schemes’.
A pre-application meeting is not mandatory, and applicants are free to apply for all open funding lanes, regardless of individual feedback received. These meetings are intended as a useful guidance tool for producers ahead of submitting a full application.
Unquantified Production Funding Offers
Requesting an extension for an unquantified offer
Where an unquantified project seeks an extension to their unquantified offer, this will be considered and reviewed. If an extension is granted this will be for a maximum of 6 months from the original 12-month offer expiry date. Projects cannot go through this process more than once without reapplying.
Requesting a quantification for an unquantified offer
Where an unquantified offer for a project seeks quantification, this will be considered and may be granted. In the event that the Screen Ireland decision is for the project to remain unquantified then the project will be granted a one-time 6-month extension from the original 12-month offer expiry date.
All other unquantified offers will expire on the original offer expiry date as outlined in the offer letter. Applicants may submit a new application for the project at a later date if they wish to do so.
Development Funding Feedback
Applicants for first stage development funding will receive a Project Decision Summary, containing confirmation of your application outcome and brief feedback comments.
For Development applications submitted in Q4 of 2025 and Q1 of 2026, feedback will be available by the end of June. All relevant applicants will receive a notification in Screen Ireland's Online Application Portal when their project decision summary is available.
