Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland welcomes Catherine Martin, T.D. as the Minister for the newly formed Department of Media, Tourism, Arts, Culture, Sport and the Gaeltacht, announced today. Screen Ireland also wishes to thank outgoing Minister Josepha Madigan for her support of the Irish screen industries throughout her tenure.

Speaking about the appointment, Dr. Annie Doona, Chair of Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland, said: “On behalf of Screen Ireland, I would like to extend our congratulations to Catherine Martin T.D. on her appointment as Minister for Media, Tourism, Arts, Culture, Sport and the Gaeltacht. As an agency, we welcome the opportunity to work closely with the newly appointed Minister at this crucial time for the Irish arts, media and screen industries, where strong and continued support for the sector is more vital than ever.

“We look forward to working with the Minister to ensure the industry can recover from the current crisis and return to live-action production as safely as possible, in line with the Government’s Roadmap for Reopening Society and Business. Our hope is to ensure the Government’s ambition for the future of the screen industry will enable us to build on the strong foundations that have established Ireland as a global centre of excellence for screen content over the past decade.”
