Galway Film Fleadh launches 2026 programme
Posted: 18th June 2026
The Galway Film Fleadh has announced the full programme of its 2026 edition, taking place 7th - 12th July.
35 new Irish feature films will be presented, including 18 documentaries and four Irish-language productions, highlighting the remarkable breadth and ambition of contemporary Irish filmmaking.
Joining previously announced festival highlights Try!, Learning to Breathe Under Water and The Lost Children of Tuam, the festival will present a wide variety of Screen Ireland supported features and documentaries. This includes festival favourites such as Cara Holmes' Lesbian Lines, about a community of lesbians who built an underground network of helplines; Ross McClean's Magilligan, an intimate portrait of a man caught between the world of all-too-familiar prison walls and his mother's house; Gar O'Rourke's The Siege of Paradise, examining the annual tourist season at Cinque Terre in Italy and the resulting tension between locals and tourists; Sinéad O'Shea's All About the Money, following a wealthy heir who establishes a communist revolutionary camp in rural Massachusetts to fight the capitalist system he's grown to hate; Andrius Blaževičius's How to Divorce During the War, following high-flying executive Marija, who chooses the worst possible moment for an honest conversation with her husband; and Neasa Ní Chianáin's Forever is Now, following Irish Green Party leader Eamon Ryan and his team as they continue to fight for the planet before it is too late.
Marco van Belle's Feed, which follows a group of twenty something influencers who escape to a remote Irish forest and accidentally awaken the world’s original vampire from her slumber, and Dallan Shovlin's You'll Never Believe Who's Dead, a dark comedy about family, individuality, and late-stage capitalism, will receive their World Premieres at the Festival.
Screen Ireland is also proud to support a variety of short film programmes at the Festival, including the agency's annual World Premiere of Focus Shorts and Frameworks films. More information on the screening will be shared on Screen Ireland's social media channels and website in the coming days.
The Film Fair will once again serve as a major meeting point for the screen industry, offering panels, networking events and opportunities for international collaboration, as well as a work-in-progress screening of Screen Ireland-supported documentary Anam na Mara. The line-up of the annual Fleadh Forum will be revealed shortly, with pre-registration open here.
Tickets for all screenings and events are now available on galwayfilmfleadh.com.
The Galway Film Fleadh is supported by the Arts Council, Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland, TG4, Coimisiún na Meán, Galway City Council and Fáilte Ireland.
