Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland is delighted to congratulate Ian Hunt-Duffy, Darach McGarrigle and the creative team behind Irish horror film Double Blind, which has been selected to receive its World Premiere at the upcoming Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival (NIFFF).
Described by the festival programme as a "bloody clinical nightmare", the film follows a group of surviving test subjects who must fight off sleep and each other to stay alive after an experimental drug trial goes horribly wrong. The film came out of a shared love for genre films from writer Darach McGarrigle and director Ian Hunt-Duffy and was shot over 23 days on location in Co. Limerick, Ireland. Millie Brady, Polyanna McIntosh and Akshay Kumar lead the cast.
Created in 2000, the Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival (NIFFF) is the only Swiss festival dedicated to genre films, with the goal of revealing the current dynamism of the fantastic genre, as well as its primary role in the history of cinema worldwide. The festival is also a member of the Méliès International Festivals Federation. Double Blind will screen Out of Competition in the ULTRA MOVIES programme, "a selection that unveils the strangest aspects of genre cinema". The film will receive its World Premiere on Saturday, 1st July and will screen a second time for an open air screening on Tuesday, 4th July. Tickets for these screenings can be purchased here.
Double Blind is produced by Simon James Doyle for Failsafe Films. Executive producers are Emma Scott and Dearbhla Regan for Fís Eireann/Screen Ireland, Patrick Ewald and Katie Page for Epic Pictures and Patrick O'Neill for Wildcard Distribution.
