Three Screen Ireland-supported titles will receive International & World Premieres at the Edinburgh International Film Festival this June, as part of the European Perspectives strand. Alexandra McGuinness' She's Missing and A Girl From Mogadishu, directed by Mary McGuckian, will both receive their International Premieres at the festival after premiering in Ireland at the Virgin Media Dublin International Film Festival. The Documentary strand will host the World Premiere of Paul Duane's Best Before Death.
Based on the testimony of Ifrah Ahmed, A Girl From Mogadishu tells the story of Ifrah's astonishing and powerful journey to the global stage as one of the world’s foremost activists against Female Genital Mutilation.
She’s Missing from Irish writer-director Alexandra McGuinness, is a drama thriller about a young woman, Heidi, whose best friend goes missing at a rodeo after meeting a mysterious man. Determined to find what happened to her, she sets out across the desert, unveiling astonishing secrets and encountering the unexpected violence of life on the road.
Paul Duane's documentary Best Before Death, receiving its World Premiere, follows the artist Bill Drummond over a two-year period during his ambitious 12-year world tour.
The Edinburgh International Film Festival will run between the 19th and 30th June, and tickets go on sale to the public on Friday 31st May at 10am.
