Screen Ireland presents Ireland: A Creative Powerhouse for Production at the 2025 Marché du Film Conference

Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland is delighted to present Ireland: A Creative Powerhouse for Production at the 2025 Marché du Film Conference.

This special panel event will take place on Friday 16th May from 10am to 11am at the Palais Stage, Palais -1. Seating will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis - there is no need to RSVP.

The Irish screen industry and Irish stories on screen have been experiencing a wave of growth and success in recent years - led by creative talent at every level. Join us to find out more about Ireland's position as a global production hub, and why the country is fast becoming a creative powerhouse to be reckoned with. 

The panel will be moderated by Fionnuala Halligan, Executive Editor, Reviews and New Talent at Screen International, who will be joined by panellists Colm Bairéad, Kate Dolan, Macdara Kelleher and Chelsea Morgan Hoffman.

Meet the panellists

Colm Bairéad was born in Dublin and raised bilingually through both Irish and English. His documentary output as both writer and director has earned him numerous international and Irish Film & Television Academy awards. In 2022, Colm wrote and directed the critically- acclaimed Irish-language film, An Cailín Ciúin / The Quiet Girl, his narrative feature film debut.The film was BAFTA-nominated for Adapted Screenplay and Film Not in the English Language and secured an Academy Award nomination for International Feature Film at the 95th Academy Awards 2023. 

Kate Dolan is a writer and director working in the genre space. Her debut feature, You Are Not My Mother, premiered at TIFF’s Midnight Madness 2021 and received international acclaim. She began working on episodic TV after that. Last year, she won Best Drama Director at the IFTAs in 2024 for her work on AMC/RTE’s KIN Season 2. Currently, Kate is in post-production on Soulm8te, an erotic thriller that acts as a spinoff to M3GAN, set for release in early 2026.  

Macdara Kelleher is the CEO of Wild Atlantic Pictures, one of Ireland’s largest film and TV production companies and founder of leading Irish distribution outfit Wildcard. He also serves on the board of Screen Producers Ireland. 

Chelsea Morgan Hoffmann is an in-house producer at Element Pictures. Recent projects include The Listeners, a four-part series for the BBC, adapted by the author, Jordan Tannahill and directed by Janicza, and September Says, the feature debut of director Ariane Labed, which premiered in Un Certain Regard in Cannes 2024. Upcoming productions include the feature The Lost Children of Tuam, and The Rachel Incident with PageBoy and Universal Picture Group for Channel4, based on the best-selling novel by Caroline O'Donoghue.
