Featuring an impressive cast of both Irish and International stars, the third feature from acclaimed Irish director David Gleeson, Don’t Go, opens in Irish cinemas this Friday, 12 April.
The psychological thriller stars Stephen Dorff (Blade, True Detective), Melissa George (Home and Away, Hunted), Simon Delaney (This Must Be The Place, Delivery Man), Aoibhinn McGinnity (Love/Hate, Quarry), Charlotte Bradley (Mystic Knights of Tir na Nóg, The Gift) and Luke Griffin (Band of Brothers, The Clinic).
Don’t Go follows Ben Slater (Stephen Dorff) and his wife Hazel (Melissa George) in the wake of the tragic death of their daughter, Molly. The couple retreat to the west coast of Ireland to build themselves a new life in a quaint hotel by the sea. However, there is no escape for Ben who is plagued by a recurring dream of a perfect day all three of them spent on the beach last summer. Ben becomes convinced that he can change the past through this dream and bring his little girl back. As his determination to bring Molly home grows, his grasp on reality slips and his sanity is questioned by those around him. Somewhere between dreams and reality lies the truth.
Don’t Go which Gleeson co-wrote with Ronan Blaney premiered at the Galway Film Fleadh in 2018 and has since enjoyed national and international attention from critics including The New York Times which praised the performances of the two main leads as “admirably warm” and appropriately “selfish” in the act of “selfless desperation”. The Playlist noted the films “Hitchcockian tones with just a dash of supernatural sci-fi”, adding that it “moves well” and is elevated by “consistent performances across the board.”
The film was shot on location in Spiddal, Co. Galway and produced by Nathalie Lichtenthaeler for Wide Eye Films Ltd with funding from Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland, RTÉ, the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland, Northern Irish Screen and Amasia Entertainment.
Don't Go opens Friday, 12 March in Dundrum, Swords, Nenagh and IMC Galway.
