Pathways Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Fund Expands with €300,000 Announced for Irish Film & TV Drama
Posted: 13th April 2022
Following the success of the first pilot iteration in 2021, Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland (Screen Ireland) and Atlantic Academy are pleased to announce that a further €300,000 has been allocated for the Film & TV Drama Pathways Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Fund in 2022.
This funding scheme specifically for the Film & TV Drama sector will be used to create more inclusive opportunities on productions for those from diverse and under-represented communities and those where access to the industry would historically be limited.
Last year, through the funding scheme, 11 companies/producers received funding that provided work placement opportunities for 26 participants from historically under-represented groups on Film & TV Drama productions.
Gareth Lee, Skills Manager at Screen Ireland, said:
As part of our new strategy, Screen Ireland are keen to ensure that opportunities in the screen sector are open to all. The Film & TV Pathways Fund announced today will help to provide access points to a diverse range of talent. We look forward to working with Atlantic Academy on this initiative.
Siobhán Ní Ghadhra, CEO of Danú Media and Atlantic Academy, said:
Initiatives such as Pathways are crucial to create opportunities for people from diverse backgrounds to become involved in the screen industry. We are delighted to be working with Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland on this and look forward to working with producers to ensure the benefits of the scheme are maximised.
Applications are welcome for proposals that address the following in particular:
- Opportunities for under-represented participants wishing to transition from other sectors.
- Opportunities for those who wish to return to the Film & TV Drama sector after a period of absence.
- Opportunities for refugees seeking to transition to the Film & TV Drama sector.
- Gender and diversity balance in specific departments and roles where gender and diversity would historically be skewed.
Through this scheme, producers from the Film & TV Drama sector can apply for a funding award of up to a maximum of €25,000 per production/project in 2022. Projects awarded funding must commence production before 31st December 2022.
The Film & TV Drama Pathways Fund will be open throughout 2022 until the total fund is fully expended.
