RTÉ Places Spotlight on Irish Film Talent

Posted: 3rd August 2018

Irish creative filmmaking talent is in the spotlight once again thanks to a special report from RTÉ highlighting 25 of Ireland’s brightest creatives. According to RTÉ, these are the people “propelling Ireland on a cultural force on both the national and international stage.”

Irish writers, directors and actors feature prominently on the list, reinforcing the centrality and importance of Irish screen storytelling to our national culture. Screen Ireland-supported directing talent on the list includes Nora Twomey, whose critically acclaimed debut animated feature, The Breadwinner received an Academy Award® nomination earlier this year. Northern Irish writer/director Aoife McArdle also features alongside Twomey, following her directorial debut Kissing Candice, which received its world premiere at the prestigious Berlinale in February.

Academy Award®-nominated Saoirse Ronan (Brooklyn) and Ruth Negga (Breakfast on Pluto) lead the Irish actors currently making waves on the international stage, while Emmet Kirwan (Dublin Oldschool), Domhnall Gleeson (The Little Stranger) and Barry Keoghan (Black 47, The Killing of a Sacred Deer) round out this bravura display of some of the country’s finest on-screen talents.
