Schoolism Live Dublin 2018 Line-Up Announced, in Collaboration with Screen Training Ireland and Animation Skillnet

Screen Training Ireland and Animation Skillnet are excited to collaborate with Schoolism Live Dublin 2018 taking place on 20 and 21 October. Schoolism brings together some of the best talent in the industries of feature animation, gaming, illustration, and design in an intensely focused weekend of workshops.

Schoolism Live Dublin 2018 includes an exciting line-up of speakers including Stephan Martiniere, Megan Brain, Shannon Tindle, Sylvain Marc, Nathan Fowkes, and The Black Frog, whose combined credits include Guardians of the Galaxy, I, Robot, Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends Carolline, The Prince of Egypt and How to Train Your Dragon.

Day 1: 20 October

  • Creating and Art Directing Compelling and Unique Vision for Games with Stephan Martiniere (9:00am to 12:00pm)
  • Sculpting with Paper
    with Megan Brain (1:00pm to 3:00pm)
  • Sharing Your Stories: From Notepad to Script with Shannon Tindle (3:30pm to 6:30pm)

Day 2: 21 October

  • Visual Development and Art Direction as a Freelancer with Sylvain Marc (9:00am to 12:00pm)
  • Designing with Colour and Light with Nathan Fowkes (1:00pm to 4:00pm)
  • Procr(e)astination: The Art of Perpetual Production with The Black Frog (4:30pm to 6:30pm)

In addition to the exciting line-up already announced, attendees are also invited to an additional one hour workshop with renowned artist Bobby Chiu at the Morrison Hotel from 8.30pm-9.30pm on Saturday 20th October to be followed by a networking/drinks reception at 9.30pm in the same venue.

Painting Creatures with Bobby Chiu
Join Bobby Chiu on Saturday 20th October, as he teaches his methods for painting creatures, what directors look for in concept artists and successful career building. In this workshop you will learn techniques to help you better visualize through imagination, creating life-like fictional creatures. Other topics include leveling up your own style and what makes art viral. This workshop is ideal for artists of all levels.

Biography
Bobby has been a professional artist for over twenty years, starting at the age of seventeen designing for Disney, Warner Bros., and Star Wars toys at Thinkway Toys in Toronto, Canada. He is the founder and creative director at Imaginism Studios located in Toronto. He is an acclaimed concept artist and character designer, winning an Emmy award for his creation of Niko and the Sword of Light. Some of his most recent projects were Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, Tim Burton’s Alice Through the Looking Glass and he was also a Master Award recipient to Exposé 3. Bobby is also extremely passionate about teaching and education and is heavily involved in the artistic community. He continuously provides lectures at schools, workshops, and conventions. He also runs an online school known as Schoolism, for today’s evolving artist, and he also hosts a YouTube channel that is extremely educational and informative, providing artist interviews, tips, demos, and news.
