Screen Ireland at SXSW: The Art of Story Telling Through Creative Technology Panel at Ireland House

Ireland House returns to SXSW this year, celebrating Irish trailblazers in film, tech, sport, and more. Ireland House is a partnership between Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Enterprise Ireland, IDA Ireland, and Screen Ireland, located in Austin at Marlow, 700 E 6th Street on March 13-14.

This year, Screen Ireland and IDA Ireland return to Ireland House with a panel of industry leaders to discuss how the sector is optimising innovation to bring Ireland’s stories to screens. 

The Art of Story Telling Through Creative Technology in Ireland

Ireland’s film and screen industries are entering a new era, powered by cutting-edge technology, global creative talent, and a rapidly expanding digital ecosystem. This panel explores how Ireland is leveraging innovation — from virtual production and real-time rendering to AI-enhanced workflows, immersive storytelling, and next-generation post-production — to compete on a global stage. 

Leaders from Ireland’s technology, filmmaking, and content sectors will discuss how studios, startups, and creative teams are collaborating to reshape production pipelines, attract international investment, and deliver world-class storytelling. 

With Ireland now home to major Post and VFX hubs, state-of-the-art stages, and groundbreaking research in digital media, this session uncovers why the country is becoming one of the most dynamic partners for screen innovation.

Panellists

Moderator: Caroline Wilson - UTA Entertainment & Culture Marketing  

With experience working in media, tech, TV, agency, influencer and web3 startup environments, Caroline has created award-winning brand experiences for global Auto, Tech, CPG, Fashion & Entertainment clients. Originally from Ireland, Caroline spent her formative years in North Texas and a 2-year stint in NYC before moving to LA. 

Amy Hahn - Amazon/MGM, SVP, Physical Production MGM Scripted Television

Amy is a seasoned Senior Production Executive and Producer with over 20 years of experience in both scripted and unscripted television.  

With MGM, she has managed acclaimed titles such as The Handmaid’s Tale, Wednesday, Vikings: Valhalla, Fargo, Shark Tank and The Voice. Her current role with Amazon MGM Studios which gives her the opportunity to continue to lead award-winning premium television projects through production, from development to network delivery. 

Deborah Doherty - Elephant Goldfish

Deborah Doherty is the Managing Director and Executive Producer of Elephant Goldfish, Dublin’s newest VFX and Post-production studio which offers creative-first solutions across the Film, TV, Animation and Gaming sectors. She began her career in audio production in London in the 2000s and joined Windmill Lane in Dublin in 2005, where she oversaw significant growth in the audio division before expanding her VFX and management role.  

Recent credits include Lee Cronin's The Mummy, A24's The Moment, Steve (Netflix/Big Things), Blue Moon (Richard Linklater), The Tourist (BBC), Bodkin (Netflix/Higher Ground) and Doctor Who (BBC/Disney).

Ruth Treacy - Tailored Films 

Ruth Treacy is an award-winning Irish producer, director and co-founder of Tailored Films, the Dublin-based company she established with Julianne Forde almost twenty years ago. The company has produced eight international feature films and over fifteen TV drama series. ‘Team Tailored’ is one of Ireland’s leading production companies. Its vision is to produce bold, edgy stories, underpinned by a strong societal message. 

Ruth’s recent producing credits include the Oscar, BAFTA and Golden Globe nominated The Apprentice and the BIFA and Fantastic Fest-winning Bring Them Down.  

Tailored Films' latest co-production is Damian McCarthy's Hokum, starring Adam Scott. The film will have its World Premiere at SXSW 2026 in the Midnighter section.
