Screen Ireland congratulates Irish nominees at 2023 Kidscreen Awards

Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland is proud to congratulate the teams behind the Screen Ireland supported Karma's World and Tales from Dún Draíochta on their Kidscreen Awards nominations this week.
A Brown Bag Films, 9 Story Media Group, Karma’s World Entertainment and Netflix series, Karma's World follows Karma Grant, an aspiring musical artist and rapper with big talent and an even bigger heart. Smart, resilient, and deeply empathetic, Karma pours her soul into song writing, channelling her feelings into whip-smart rhymes with passion, courage and her signature brand of humour. The series features original songs which focus on issues such as self-esteem, body positivity, discrimination, creativity, expressing emotions, friendship, family, leadership, celebrating differences and more while its protagonist begins to grasp the incredible power that words and music can have. The series was nominated in the Kids Programming: Best Inclusivity category.
Screen Ireland is also delighted to congratulate Irish animation company Brown Bag Films on additional nominations for Get Rolling With Otis (in association with 9 Story Media Group and AppleTV+) and Ada Twist, Scientist (in association with Laughing Wild, Higher Ground Productions, Wonder Worldwide and Netflix).
Tales from Dún Draíochta, created by Trevor Courtney for Igloo Animations, is a mixed media animated series full of old Irish lore, and characters as diverse as Talking Goats, Giants, Changelings, Fairy Folk, Singing Serpents, Dragons, and a smart as a whip Salmon, who all call the town of Dún Draíochta their home. The series, which is supported by Screen Ireland, RTÉ and the BAI, premiered this past september on RTÉ2 and was nominated in the Tweens/Teens Programming: Best Mixed-Media Series category.
Now in its 14th year, the annual Kidscreen Awards program is a high-profile celebration of children’s content excellence paying tribute to outstanding TV and digital media work that keeps kids and families entertained. The winners will be announced at a prestigious awards ceremony on Tuesday, 14th February during Kidscreen Summit 2023 in Miami. We are proud to see Irish talent in the animation sector recognised in the awards ceremony, and extend our sincere congratulations to all nominees.
