Success for two Irish films, Shooting the Mafia and Good Favour, at the Brussels International Film Festival

Posted: 4th July 2019

The 2nd Edition of the Brussels International Film Festival has awarded Audience Awards to two Screen Ireland-supported projects, Kim Longinotto’s Shooting the Mafia and Rebecca Daly’s Good Favour.

Kim Longinotto’s Shooting the Mafia received the Audience Award selected from the line-up of films competing in Directors Week and in the International Competition, a cash prize of €4,000 and an award of €5,000 for the purchase of media advertising space as part of the promotion of the film. Shooting the Mafia is continuing its festival success after also receiving third prize in the Panorama Audience Awards at the Berlinale this year.

Good Favour, an enigmatic and haunting drama written and directed by Rebecca Daly, received its World Premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2017. It was awarded the Audience Award as part of the National Competition strand, which amounts to €5,000 in cash, as well as €5,000 for the purchase of media advertising space as part of the promotion of the film.

Both awards mark the continuation of international success and prizes for Irish features and documentaries across European film festivals in recent years.
