The Damned and Kneecap in Official Selection at 2024 Tribeca Film Festival

Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland is delighted to congratulate the creative teams behind The Damned and Kneecap on their Official Selection to this year's Tribeca Film Festival.
Directed by Thordur Palsson and co-written by Irish screenwriter Jamie Hannigan, The Damned is an Ireland/UK/Iceland/Belgium/United States co-production. The film will receive its World Premiere in the New York festival's Spotlight Narrative strand.
When a ship sinks near her isolated fishing post, Eva must choose: rescue the shipwrecked or survive winter. Guilt ridden, the fishermen believe they are being punished for their choices.
The Damned is produced by John Keville and Conor Barry for Wild Atlantic Pictures, along with Emilie Jouffroy and Kamilla Kristiane Hodøl for Elation Pictures, and Tim Headington, Theresa Steele Page, and Nate Kamiya for Ley Line Entertainment. Co-producers include Iceland’s Join Motion Pictures and Belgium’s Wrong Men. The film is supported by Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland, Ley Line Entertainment, BCP, the UK Global Screen Fund and Wallimage. Sales are being handled by Protagonist Pictures.
Irish co-production Kneecap has also been announced to screen at the Festival in the Spotlight Narrative strand in what will be the film's New York Premiere. Kneecap was the first non-US film to ever be selected for the NEXT section of the Sundance Film Festival in January this year, where it went on to win the Audience Award in that strand, and screened at the South by Southwest Film and TV Festival (SXSW) in March. The film was acquired by Sony Pictures Classics for North America, Latin America, Eastern Europe, Turkey and the Middle East, with a planned release in the United States in August, and will be released in cinemas by Wildcard and Curzon in Ireland and the UK later this year.
This year's Tribeca Film Festival will take place from the 5th to the 16th June 2024 in New York City.
