Three short films from Screen Ireland and RTɑs flagship Frameworks scheme to make television debut next week

Three short films funded through Screen Ireland and RTÉ's flagship Frameworks scheme will make their television debut next week on RTÉ2. Sarah Benson's Hermit, Eoin Duffy's Regular Rabbit and Rory Kerr's Red Rabbit all received their World Premiere at the 34th Galway Film Fleadh in 2022 and have gone on to screen at a wide range of film festivals around the world, from Tribeca to the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. All three short films will be available on the RTÉ Player for a limited amount of time after their original screening date.

Hermit takes place in a dystopian future where Mother Nature guards the last of Earth’s flora deep underwater. When the last of humanity – a hermit building a shelter – makes a discovery, greed takes over. The film is written by Patrick Moynihan, Sarah Benson, and Owen Peurois, about humanity's greed and its effect on the environment

"He is but a rabbit! An innocent rabbit!" 

Regular Rabbit follows a seemingly regular rabbit when its good name falls victim to an unstoppable tide of disinformation. Throughout its festival run, the film travelled to Valladolid, Annecy and Tribeca.

In Red Rabbit, an anthropomorphic rabbit struggles to find peace and relaxation at home.These attempts are thwarted by a destructive shoulder devil, who takes glee in ruining any chance of tranquillity.

Co-funded by Screen Ireland and RTÉ, Frameworks is a flagship scheme for the Irish animation sector. The scheme has produced high-quality, imaginative short films that have gone on to major international success, including Academy Award nominations (Louise Bagnall's Late Afternoon, Nicky Phelan's Granny O'Grimm's Sleeping Beauty) and World Premieres at major film festivals like Tribeca, Annecy and Sundance.
