YouTube Kids become the title sponsor to the Animation Dingle Student Awards

Announced by Animation Dingle, a leading Irish animation festival supported by Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland, YouTube Kids is to be the title sponsor of the Animation Dingle Student Awards. A perfect pairing and partnership in the ever growing world of animation, The YouTube Kids Animation Dingle Student Awards will take place in Dingle, Co. Kerry, on the west coast of Ireland on March 20th 2020. 

The Awards are part of the hugely successful Animation Dingle. Animation Dingle is now coming into its eighth year, and each year, hundreds of animation students attend the festival each year along with professionals in the sector from all over the world. Set in magical Dingle – on the most westerly peninsula of Europe, the hugely successful Animation Dingle returns this year on 20th March – 21st March. Animation Dingle commits to delivering the very best in Animation from Ireland and around the globe to the Animation Dingle Festival annually; delivering through their conference, workshops, screenings and awards and in the spirit of sharing and supporting.

Many of the animation companies attending Animation Dingle work across animation for children and YouTube Kids is an ideal complement to this part of the sector.

The Animation Dingle Awards take place on Friday night, giving the following day over to students to bask in their success. Award categories up for grabs on the night include: Best Irish Short; Best International Short; Best Director; Best Animation; Best Writer; Best 2D; Best Stop Motion; Best Music/Sound Design; Best Art Direction/Design; Best 3D/CGI; The Inaugural Best Sting Award and The Inaugural Best Irish Short Film (Professional). The Murakami Award will also be announced on the night.

Flying in from the west coast of America to the YouTube Kids Animation Dingle Student Awards ceremony - and participating in the two day festival - are some of the top executives in the business from Amazon, Apple, Cartoon Network, Disney, Dreamworks, Gaumont, Netflix, Nickelodeon, Pixar, The Jim Henson Company. Joining them are top European broadcasters including, Aardman Studios, BBC, Channel 5, France 4, RTÉ and Sony Pictures. 

Irish animation studios will also be well represented at the event with Brown Bag Films, Cartoon Saloon, Jam Media and Lighthouse Studios participating on the Animation Dingle Studio Pub Trail.
