Meet a new generation of screen talent

A new surge of female Irish writing and directing talent is garnering attention for the smart, vivid stories they are telling for film and television audiences around the world. Screen Ireland is proud to celebrate a small selection of these bright, promising up and coming Irish female writing and directing talent.

Since 2015, Screen Ireland has been striving to lessen the gender gap in the industry and put in place several female-focused development and production funding initiatives, the fruits of which are now being seen with projects like Kate Dolan's You Are Not My Mother, Antonia Campbell-Hughes' It Is In Us All and Claire Dix's upcoming Sunlight.

Rachel Carey's Deadly Cuts was the highest-grossing Irish film of 2021, and the first Irish female-directed film to reach that height since 2003.

Kate Dolan's You Are Not My Mother is in Irish cinemas right now.

ITV's Holding, co-written and co-created by Karen Cogan with Dominic Treadwell-Collins, will be broadcast on the 14th March, 2022.

Nathalie Biancheri's Wolf will be in Irish cinemas on the 18th March, 2022.
