Festival de Cannes
The Irish Film Board has had a presence at the Festival de Cannes for more than ten years, hosting the Irish Pavilion. The Pavilion is located at No. 131 in the International Village. The IFB promotes Irish film and services the needs of the Irish producers attending the festival through the Pavilion.
The Festival de Cannes has reinforced its role as forerunner in world cinema, from the discovery and promotion of films and artists to the implementation of new activities to support creativity. It also includes a range of cultural and artistic activities such as forums, tributes, masterclasses and exhibits, and a high-profile competition, the highlight of which is the Palme d'Or award.
In 1959, the Marché du Film was created to bring a commercial element to the artistic festival and has since enabled an ever-increasing number of countries to promote their culture and cinema and to support their producers and film industries.
The Cannes Market, where films are bought, sold and financed, is one of the leading film markets in the world and is reserved for film industry professionals. To participate in the festival, you must be accredited. Requests for accreditation are made online on the Festival de Cannes website.
