Course Profile

Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland is delighted to offer you the opportunity to take part in a workshop, Building Safe Spaces on Set a programme designed to instil a culture of safety, respect, and open communication across film and television productions.

By addressing microaggressions, stereotyping, and cultural insensitivity, and by fostering a genuine culture of respect, this session empowers participants to actively contribute to safe and inclusive working environments for everyone involved in the production process.

Drawing on real screen sector scenarios, participants explore what safety looks and feels like from different positions in a production hierarchy and what each person can do, regardless of their role or seniority, to build and protect it.

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  • Contribute actively to the creation of safe, respectful, and inclusive working environments on productions
  • Identify, address, and prevent microaggressions, stereotyping, and cultural insensitivity in the workplace
  • Enhance communication skills to foster open dialogue and a culture of transparency and trust on set
  • Understand and actively promote the importance of respect in building positive working relationships across production teams
  • Develop and implement practices that maintain safe spaces and prioritise the wellbeing of all crew
  • Respond appropriately and constructively when safety or respect is compromised during a production
