Looking for América

Adrift in Ireland, recently divorced Fede agrees to help his mother find an old friend in Havana, where they lived as refugees during El Salvador’s Civil War, but their strained relationship is not the only thing Fede must face, as the ghosts of his past threaten to overwhelm him.

"We are so thrilled to have been chosen for the Spotlight Screen Ireland Scheme. It is such an extraordinary opportunity for us both to learn, develop screenwriting skills and to adapt our play Looking for América for the screen.

We believe strongly that Looking for América is an important story for a modern Ireland that demands a larger telling.  It’s themes of displacement, the need for family and the courage of ordinary people are especially relevant and resonant now and we are extremely excited to begin to work with our mentors and Screen Ireland to bring it to a wider audience."
