Course Profile

This proposed course is a crucial initiative designed to equip screen industry writers with the knowledge and skills to confidently and sensitively write scenes incorporating best practice in the writers room environment.

It will be tutored by Róisín O'Donovan, Intimacy Coordinator on projects such as Foundation, The Serpent Queen, Chevalier, Vikings: Valhalla and The Wonder.

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  • Confidently approach and discuss sensitive content and intimate scenes appropriate for particular projects.
  • Understand the possible impact on the production, cast, crew and audience.
  • Consider support pathways to mitigate risk to emotional/psychological wellbeing.
  • Understand and discuss the connection between the age of cast and age-appropriate intimate scenes.
  • Employ appropriate language in scripts and discussion.

In the morning, Róisín will also be leading a course on Best Practice: Writing Intimate Scenes on Wednesday, 7th August 2024.
