Screen Ireland is also proud to support a number of short films screening as part of the Irish Shorts 4: Non-Competition programme.

The Frameworks short Regular Rabbit directed by Eoin Duffy premiered earlier this at the Galway Film Fleadh, and has since received its US Premiere at the Newport Beach Film Festival. The film explores the absurdity of fake news through an alleged mass-murdering rabbit.

Sinéad O’Loughlin’s Lamb received its World Premiere at the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival. In this tense short film, an ordinary day takes a sinister turn for a woman and her child when a stranger walks into their isolated rural home.

On a hot summer’s day, Aggie, a woman with Down syndrome, offers shelter to a young girl Lucy when her home life is not so welcoming. Directed by Mia Mullarkey, Safe as Houses premiered at the Galway Film Fleadh earlier this year. Both Lamb and Safe as Houses were funded through Screen Ireland’s Focus Shorts scheme.

As Mary grows weaker, Fiona accepts she must contact her estranged brother Mark to allow him to say goodbye.

The Irish Shorts 4: Non-Competition programme will take place on Friday, 11th November in the Gate Theatre at 3.15pm. Tickets can be purchased here.
