Ireland for the Story Makers: A focus on upcoming Irish TV drama projects in the pipeline with Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland

In this Content London panel session, Screen Ireland introduces the people behind the stories and we look ahead to some of the most powerful and gripping TV dramas that Ireland has to offer in the coming months. Irish TV drama has gone from strength to strength in the last few years, with a diverse array of new series and talent reaching international audiences across the globe.

In 2021, Ireland had its most successful year of TV drama production to-date and is positioned to further increase its output while working continually with a variety of international partners and stakeholders. Stories of deceit and scandal are coupled with emotional family-driven drama in this one-hour spotlight on Ireland and all it has to offer.

Obituary

  • The dark Irish dark comedy-crime drama stars Irish TV and theatre actress Siobhán Cullen, as Elvira Clancy, an obituarist working at a small-town newspaper, who suddenly finds herself being paid by the obituary due to cuts. When she “accidentally” kills a nasty piece of work, she discovers she might have an untapped bloodlust, and sets her sights on other unpleasant residents of the town.
