Screen Ireland Call for Applications — EFP Producers on the Move 2022

Posted: 24th February 2022

Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland is now seeking applications from producers who wish to be considered as the Irish selection for the 2022 EFP Producers on the Move programme, held each year at the Cannes Film Festival.

Each year, 20 young producers from 20 different countries from throughout Europe are selected to participate in Producers on the Move at the Cannes Film Festival. The five-day programme aims at connecting enterprising producers with potential co-production partners and strengthening their international industry networks. The programme is underpinned by a promotion and press campaign, creating international visibility and opportunities for the producers. EFP will throughout the programme:

  • Promotes the 20 top up and coming producers from diverse countries in Europe to the international industry and press
  • Connects 20 up and coming producers with each other (pitching session, individual meetings, case study etc.)
  • Offers the producers access to key players in the industry (funders, financiers, sales agents, distributors, broadcasters)
  • Matches each of the 20 participants with five sales agents introducing their new projects
  • Provides the producers with further expertise on co-production, international film funding and financing, sales, distribution, new technologies, new business models and current trends
  • Offers opportunities for the producers to exchange knowledge, experiences and projects
  • Offers valuable opportunities via strategic partnerships with the PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE Alumni Network throughout the year
  • Provides the opportunity to screen producer’s previous works to their peers and interested experts at Festival Scope Pro’s VoD platform.

EFP (European Film Promotion) started the programme 22 years ago - more than 420 producers have participated since then. Many of them went on to become internationally respected industry players whose works are screened at A-festivals around the world, winning Academy Awards and garnering critical acclaim. Producers on the Move is financially backed by the Creative Europe - MEDIA Programme of the European Union and the participating national film institutes, EFP's member organisations.

Previous Irish Producers on the Move include John Wallace (Rialto) Cormac Fox (Animals), Alan Maher (Song of Granite), Katie Holly (Vita & Virginia), John Keville and Conor Barry (The Hole in the Ground), Juliette Bonass (A Date for Mad Mary), Rebecca O’Flanagan (Papi Chulo) and Macdara Kelleher (Black '47).

Interested producers/production companies wishing to apply for Producers on the Move must have completed at least one international co-production, but not more than three. The final selection of the 20 participants is based on a points system.*

If candidates were the majority producers in more than three international co-productions, they, unfortunately, are too experienced for PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE

* For 2022 with an introduction to a hybrid programme, the 20 selected producers must be interested and able to attend virtual and physical event in Cannes.

Producers interested in participating in PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE 2022 should fill out the attached application form, and email to Louise Ryan at louise.ryan@screenireland.ie by Thursday, 3rd March.
