Course Profile

This workshop is a specialised two-part series dedicated to providing professionals in the Irish screen and theatre sector, including filmmakers, casting directors, producers, talent agents, and industry stakeholders with strategies and best practices for achieving excellence in casting that reflects diversity and inclusion. This workshop delves into the intricacies of casting processes, highlighting the importance of authentic representation and inclusivity in onscreen portrayals. Participants will gain insights into fostering a diverse talent pool and creating inclusive casting environments that embrace a wide range of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.

By the end of the workshop, participants will:

  • Understand the significance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in casting within the Irish screen and theatre sector.
  • Explore strategies and best practices for casting that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, fostering a more inclusive and representative onscreen landscape.
  • Develop skills in casting diverse talent and creating inclusive casting environments that support and amplify voices from diverse backgrounds.
  • Learn how to navigate challenges and biases in casting processes, ensuring fair evaluation and opportunities for all actors regardless of their backgrounds or identities.
  • Implement effective methods for collaborating with diverse talent agencies, actors, and industry stakeholders to achieve diversity excellence in casting practices.
