Course Overview

This course taking place online on Tuesday, 4th and Wednesday, 5th June 2024, from 10am to noon each day is designed to guide funders and organisations in supporting diverse projects within Ireland’s screen industry. This course explores strategies for equitable funding distribution, addresses unconscious biases in the funding process, and empowers participants to actively support underrepresented voices in the cinematic landscape.  

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to: 

  • Apply principles of equity and inclusion to funding schemes and project funding, contributing to a more inclusive and representative screen industry. 
  • Mitigate unconscious biases in funding processes to ensure fair evaluation and support for all projects, regardless of background or theme. 
  • Implement effective strategies to actively support projects from underrepresented voices, fostering diversity and new storytelling perspectives. 
  • Develop and implement robust DEI policies or refine existing policies that prioritise diversity and inclusion in project selection and funding allocation. 
  • Utilise effective methods to measure the impact of diversity-focused funding initiatives, contributing to continuous progress in building an inclusive and vibrant screen industry. 

Participant Profile

This course is aimed at funders, and individuals who work across schemes, projects, and individuals or organisations interested in supporting diverse projects in the screen sector.
