The 78th Cannes Film Festival runs from 13 - 25 May 2025, with Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland attending the festival and hosting the Irish Pavilion at the Marché du Film.

Screen Ireland at the 2025 Marché du Film Conference

Screen Ireland is proud to present Ireland: a Creative Powerhouse for Production at the 2025 Marché du Film Conference.

The Irish screen industry and Irish stories on screen have been experiencing a wave of growth and success in recent years - led by creative talent at every level. Join us for this panel to find out more about Ireland's position as a global production hub, and why the country is fast becoming a creative powerhouse to be reckoned with.

The panel will take place on Friday 16th May at 10am on the Palais Stage and online. More information is available on the Marché du Film's conference schedule. Follow Screen Ireland's social media channels and newsletter to stay up to date as panellists are announced.

Screening at the Marché du Film 2025

Re-Creation

Re-Creation follows a fictitious trial where twelve members of a jury must decide whether British journalist Ian Bailey is guilty of the murder of French filmmaker Sophie Toscan Du Plantier in 1996. Based on real events, the film reconstructs the deliberations of the twelve jury members and presents a case that ultimately invites the viewer to draw their own conclusions. The cast includes Colm Meaney, Jim Sheridan, Vicky Krieps and Aidan Gillen. The film will make its World Premiere at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival.

The Wolf, The Fox & The Leopard

In David Verbeek's The Wolf, The Fox and The Leopard, a feral girl who has spent her life living among wolves is taken on an odyssey through contemporary human life while the threat of climate apocalypse looms. The film stars Jessica Reynolds, Nicholas Pinnock, Marie Jung, Lucas Lynggaard Tønnese, Eoin Duffy, San Shella and Naomi Kawase. The film will make its World Premiere at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival.

Sanatorium

Shot on location in Ukraine, Sanatorium takes viewers inside Kuyalnik Sanatorium on the outskirts of Odesa, a vast Soviet-era health retreat where visitors undergo traditional treatments, find community, and navigate a summer like no other - despite the war unfolding around them. The film offers a striking and deeply human portrait of resilience, longing, and the pursuit of solace in an uncertain world. The film received its World Premiere earlier this year at CPH:DOX.

Christy

Two estranged brothers, with a chequered background in the care system, grapple with their past and resolve to unite over one summer in Cork city.

Christy received its World Premiere at the 2025 Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale), where it won the Grand Prix of the Generation 14plus International Jury.

Julián

Wide-eyed Julián spends a summer of discovery in Brooklyn with his Abuela. Nearly strangers, they brace themselves for tense conversations and new adventures. Julián explores the magic of his Caribbean heritage, Abuela’s Brooklyn neighborhood and his own assertion that he is really a mermaid!

Cartoon Saloon presents a first look at their next animated film Julián on Sunday 18th May at 10am in Palais K as part of the Annecy Animation Showcase. Julián is the feature debut of director Louise Bagnall, and is proudly supported by Screen Ireland. The showcase is part of Animation Day 2025, a collaboration between Cannes' Marché du Film and the Annecy Festival.
