Busisiwe Ntintili is a multiple award-winning film and television writer, director and producer. As the Co-Founder and Executive Producer of the critically acclaimed production company Sidewalk Productions, founded in 2006, and the founder of The Ntintili Factory in 2016, Busisiwe has been producing independent film, television and documentary projects under her company banners for 16 years and writing hit drama series for over 20 years. She is the producer, creator, writer and director of the third original series for Netflix, called Jiva! which was nominated for a SAFTA Award in 2022. She is also the screenwriter of the box office hit film Happiness is a 4 Letter Word. Busisiwe has been working with her first love, the written word, for more than thirty years. She produced her first professional play at the tender age of 13, under the New Jersey Young Playwrights Programme. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Degree in English Literature and French from Rutgers University, New Jersey, USA. Since her return from the USA in 1999, Busisiwe has been consistently working as a creative practitioner in South Africa. Her talents have been employed in various media and entertainment companies: from the advertising agency Leo Burnett, to the radio station 94.7 Highveld Stereo, to art and cultural museums, all the major SA television broadcasters and international broadcasters like Netflix, as well as educational institutions like Monash University and Big Fish School of Film. Her work ranges from soapies and telenovelas to comedies, mini-series, feature films and award winning drama series like the Peabody Award recipient Intersexions, 4Play, Sex Tips for Girls which won her a SAFTA for Best Writing for a Drama Series and the 2016 Best Feature Film for Happiness in a 4 Letter Word from the 5th Annual Mbokodo Women in the Arts Awards. Busisiwe has also directed drama series, corporate videos and documentaries, including directing a Parliamentary documentary film about the 1956 Women's March and directing a series of 25 short films for the launch exhibition of the national Freedom Park Museum. Her lifelong vision is for her work to contribute to restoring the pride of the South African child, and to giving South Africans creative tools to transform their lives.
