Christian Bräuer, born in 1971, PhD in political science and trained banker, is managing director of Yorck-Kino GmbH and Programmkino Ost GmbH in Dresden, operating arthouse cinemas within a close network of 17 cinemas with 49 screens in Berlin, Munich and Dresden.
He is President of the International Confederation of Arthouse Cinemas (CICAE). He also serves as Chairman of the German Arthouse Cinema Association (AG Kino – Gilde deutscher Filmkunsttheater e.V.) and Secretary General of the cinema network Europa Cinema. Christian Bräuer represents the German cinema industry on the Board of Directors and is a member of the Administrative Council and Chairman of the European and International Affairs Committee of the German Federal Film Board (FFA).
The Delphi LUX cinema in Berlin, which opened in 2017 and in whose planning and realisation Christian Bräuer played a major role, was awarded the top prize by the German government at the 2019 Cinema Programme Awards. In September 2023, he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for his influential role in the cinematic arts as an entrepreneur, networker and passionate advocate of cinemas.
