Ruth is a writer/director of award-winning & nominated film and television since the early 2000s. She is a graduate of the NFTS in Beaconsfield, UK and has made numerous short films which have garnered international awards. Ruth’s debut film, The Bright Side was the recipient of the Audience Award at the 2020 Cork International Film Festival, the Jury Award at The Sonoma International Film Festival 2021 and the Grand Logis, Prix du Public in Rennes in Brittany in 2022.
More recently Ruth has directed on the Lionsgate funded TV series Northern Lights for Deadpan Pictures in Dublin. She is currently in development with a number of feature films including West of Eden and Nothing But Blue Sky, both supported by development funding from Screen Ireland.
As a creativity consultant, Ruth has worked with acting students at Bow Street Acting Academy and The Lir Academy, Dublin, masters students in Film at IADT, Dublin and students of the media programme at Queens University Belfast. Ruth is also an active board member of The Screen Director’s Guild of Ireland, and a member of the Writer’s Guild of Ireland and Women in Film and TV, Ireland.
