Berlinale and EFM
The Berlin International Film Festival (also known as Berlinale) takes place each year in February, showcasing about 400 films including many international and European premieres. The Berlinale celebrates the brightest and boldest works in international and European cinema with films of every genre, length and format finding a home in the festival. From independent and art house films to the avant-garde and unfamiliar, the festival is a melting pot of exciting cinematic discovery. Furthermore, the Berlinale hosts a programme of Special Presentations, presenting a range of intersectional titles that combine film with other creative disciplines to reveal new insights into key global issues and discussions.
The most important meeting point at the Berlinale is the European Film Market (EFM), which is attended by over 500 companies and welcomes more than 9,000 producers, buyers, sales agents, distributors, exhibitors and financiers to the first major film market of the year.
